ZFX는 Kruppel C2H2-type zinc-finger 단백질 패밀리에 속하며, 전장 단백질은 산성 전사 활성화 도메인(AD), 핵 내 위치 신호(NLS), 그리고 13개의 C2H2-type zinc finger로 구성된 DNA 결합 도메인(DBD)을 포함합니다.
마우스 배아 및 성체 조혈 줄기세포 연구에서 ZFX는 자기 재생에 필수적인 전사 조절 인자로 작용하지만, 그 자손 세포의 성장 및 분화에는 필요하지 않은 것으로 보고되었습니다.
