Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid motif, the F-box. The F-box proteins are components of the ubiquitin protein ligase complex (SCFs: SKP1-cullin-F-box), which function in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
F-box proteins are divided into three classes:

1. Fbws – containing WD-40 domains
2. Fbls – containing leucine-rich repeats
3. Fbxs – containing other protein–protein interaction modules or no recognizable motifs

The FBXO6 protein belongs to the Fbxs class, and its C-terminal region is highly similar to rat NFB42, which may be involved in cell cycle control.
