This protein is part of the MDR/TAP subfamily, which is involved in multidrug resistance. It acts as an ATP-dependent drug efflux pump with broad substrate specificity, contributing to decreased drug accumulation in resistant cells and mediating resistance to anticancer drugs. Additionally, it functions as a transporter in the blood-brain barrier.
