These kits are designed for rapid spin column removal of endotoxins from previously purified DNA. Norgen’s spin columns bind DNA while endotoxins, salts, and other contaminants are washed away. The kits reduce endotoxins to 0.1 EU/μg DNA or less, providing plasmid DNA ready for transfection or other endotoxin-sensitive applications. Typical DNA recovery is greater than 90% of the starting sample.

Removes endotoxins from up to 25 µg of DNA. Procedure completed in ~20 minutes.

Removes endotoxins from up to 200 µg of DNA. Procedure completed in ~30 minutes.
Endotoxin Removal Kit (Maxi)
Removes endotoxins from up to 1 mg of DNA. Procedure completed in ~30 minutes.
About Endotoxins
Endotoxins (lipopolysaccharides) are components of Gram-negative bacterial cell membranes such as E. coli. They are released during plasmid purification and can reduce transfection efficiency in sensitive cell lines. Therefore, removing endotoxins is critical before downstream applications.

An input of 11 µg plasmid DNA (endotoxin >8 EU/µg) was cleaned using Norgen’s kit. Endotoxin levels were reduced to ≤0.1 EU/µg with high DNA recovery.

Why do I have poor DNA recovery?
Possible causes:
- DNA did not bind properly to the column (check Buffer SK for precipitates)
- Ethanol not properly added to Wash Solution H
- Incomplete removal of Wash Solution H (ensure full spin time)
- Incorrect Buffer SK volume (5:1 ratio to DNA volume)
Why is purified DNA not performing well?
- DNA not washed with provided Wash Solution H
- Incorrect or non-optimized elution buffer used
- Elution buffer containing interfering components (e.g., salts, detergents)
Why are endotoxin levels slightly higher than 0.1 EU/µg?
- Non-standard elution buffer used
- Extremely high initial endotoxin levels (repeat purification if needed)
