Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine induced by apoptosis, involved in angiogenesis, inflammation, and wound healing. It sensitizes tumor-associated vasculature to tumor necrosis factor. The precursor protein is identical to the p43 subunit of the multi-tRNA synthetase complex and modulates aminoacylation activity. It also stimulates inflammatory responses after proteolytic cleavage in tumor cells. Multiple transcript variants and a pseudogene on chromosome 20 have been identified.
