Target Information
Cytochrome C is an electron transporting protein located in the mitochondrial intermembrane space, playing a crucial role in oxidative phosphorylation and ATP production. Upon apoptotic stimuli, Cytochrome C is released into the cytosol, where it binds to apoptotic protease activating factor, initiating procaspase 9 activation. Cytosolic Cytochrome C further activates caspase 3, a key effector of apoptosis.
