Target Information
The CDH17 gene belongs to the cadherin superfamily, encoding calcium-dependent membrane-associated glycoproteins. Cadherin-17 is a cadherin-like protein with seven extracellular cadherin domains and a transmembrane region but lacks a conserved cytoplasmic domain. It is expressed in the gastrointestinal tract and pancreatic ducts, functioning as an intestinal proton-dependent peptide transporter involved in the absorption of peptide-based drugs. It may also contribute to the morphological organization of the liver and intestine. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative splicing.
