Target Information

SSX4 belongs to the SSX family and contains one KRAB-related domain. SSX4 may act as a modulator of transcription.
The SSX family proteins are highly homologous synovial sarcoma X (SSX) breakpoint proteins that may function as transcriptional repressors.
They can elicit humoral and cellular immune responses in cancer patients and are potential targets for cancer vaccine-based immunotherapy.
SSX1, SSX2, and SSX4 genes are involved in the t(X;18) translocation found in all synovial sarcomas, resulting in fusion of the synovial sarcoma translocation gene on chromosome 18 with one of the SSX genes on chromosome X.
Chromosome Xp11 contains two identical copies of SSX4 and SSX4B in tail-to-tail orientation. This gene, SSX4, represents the more telomeric copy. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
