Target Information
The MCM3 gene encodes one of the highly conserved mini-chromosome maintenance proteins involved in the initiation of eukaryotic genome replication. The hexameric protein complex (MCM2–7) is a key component of the pre-replication complex (pre_RC), participating in replication fork formation and recruitment of DNA replication-related proteins. MCM3 interacts directly with MCM5/CDC46 and is acetylated by MCM3AP, a chromatin-associated acetyltransferase. This acetylation inhibits DNA replication initiation and cell cycle progression.
