Target Information
FLIP (CFLAR) is an apoptosis regulator protein that serves as a crucial link between cell survival and cell death pathways in mammalian cells. It inhibits TNFRSF6-mediated apoptosis. A proteolytic fragment (p43) is retained in the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC), blocking further recruitment and processing of caspase-8. Full-length and shorter isoforms can either induce or reduce TNFRSF-triggered apoptosis. It lacks enzymatic (caspase) activity.
