Target Information
The nuclear factor of activated T-cells (NFAT) transcription complex is essential for the expression of proteins regulating immune responses. Four NFAT proteins have been described — NFAT1 (NFATp/NFATc2), NFAT2 (NFATc/NFATc1), NFAT3, and NFAT4 (NFATx/NFATc3). These share limited sequence similarity with the Dorsal/Rel/NFkB family of transcription factors.
NFAT5, another related protein, differs from NFAT1–4 by lacking many Fos/Jun contact sites and its localization is not calcineurin-dependent.
