MTRR 유전자가 암호화하는 단백질은 환원적 메틸화 과정을 통해 methionine synthase를 재활성화합니다.
이 단백질은 ferredoxin-NADP(+) reductase (FNR) 계열의 전자 전달 효소에 속하며, folate/cobalamin 대사 이상(cbl-E complement group) 환자에서 결함이 보고되었습니다.
