Product Specific Information
The anti-rat RT1.Bu monoclonal antibody recognizes a polymorphic determinant on rat Ia antigens present on Lewis, Wistar, and AO rat strains (expressed at lower levels in AO rats), but not on BN, DA, or PVG/c strains. It also cross-reacts with certain mouse strains (MHC haplotypes b and s). Recombinant mouse strain analysis indicates the determinant maps to the I-A region and correlates with mouse Ia specificity 9. Recognizes Ia antigens on approximately 18% of thymocytes but not most peripheral T lymphocytes. This antibody is useful for distinguishing Ia-positive cells among rat strains and identifying donor-derived cells in bone marrow-reconstituted radiation chimeras.
