Target Information
The enzyme encoded by the PNPO gene catalyzes the terminal, rate-limiting step in the synthesis of pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (vitamin B6). Vitamin B6 acts as a co-factor for enzymes involved in homocysteine metabolism and neurotransmitter synthesis, including catecholamines.
