Target Information
The IL-1R2 protein is a cytokine receptor belonging to the interleukin 1 receptor family. It binds IL1A, IL1B, and IL1R1/IL1RA, acting as a decoy receptor that inhibits the activity of its ligands. Interleukin 4 (IL4) can antagonize IL-1 activity by inducing expression and release of IL-1R2. This gene forms part of a cytokine receptor cluster on chromosome 2q12 and has two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein.
