Target Information
The A4GALT gene encodes an enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of galactose to lactosylceramide to form globotriaosylceramide, identified as the P(k) antigen of the P blood group system. This type II membrane protein, localized in the Golgi apparatus, is also required for the synthesis of the bacterial verotoxin receptor.
