Target Information
Integrins are important extracellular matrix (ECM) receptor proteins located on cell surfaces. They are heterodimers composed of alpha and beta transmembrane glycoprotein subunits. Approximately 22 different integrins (various alpha/beta combinations) exist in nature. Integrins are highly concentrated at the cell surface but bind ligands with low affinity, requiring clustering for effective ECM binding. They interact with various ligands, including laminin. Each integrin consists of a large N-terminal extracellular domain for ECM binding and a small C-terminal cytoplasmic domain for cytoskeletal interaction and signaling.
