Product Specific Information

This antibody is specific for B and T lymphocyte attenuator (BTLA), which functions as a negative regulator of T cell activation and proliferation, and attenuates B cell proliferation upon associating with its known ligand, herpes virus entry mediator (HVEM).

Target Information

BTLA (B and T-lymphocyte attenuator) is a member of the co-inhibitory receptors of the CD28 superfamily. It acts as a lymphocyte inhibitory receptor that regulates immune responses by inhibiting lymphocyte activation. BTLA is constitutively expressed on most CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, with expression decreasing upon activation. It remains expressed on Th1 cells but not Th2 cells. BTLA interacts with the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member HVEM, forming an important pathway in lymphocyte activation and immune homeostasis.
