MICAL1, MICAL2, MICAL3의 세 가지 주요 아이소폼과 MICAL-L1, MICAL-L2 등의 유사 단백질이 알려져 있습니다.
MICAL2는 FAD 결합 도메인, 칼포닌 결합 도메인(CH), LIM 도메인을 포함하며, actin stress fiber 조절 및 정상적인 actin 조직 유지에 관여합니다.
또한 MICAL2-PV라는 새로운 스플라이싱 변이가 전립선암 진행과 관련됨이 보고되었습니다.
