SLFN11은 DNA 복제 억제 및 손상 반응을 유도하여 세포 사멸을 촉진하는 단백질로, 게놈 안정성을 유지하는 역할을 합니다. 또한 인터페론(IFN) 유도 항바이러스 단백질로서, HIV-1 등의 레트로바이러스 단백질 합성을 코돈 사용 의존적으로 억제합니다. tRNA 결합을 통해 바이러스 단백질 번역을 저해하며, 역전사나 RNA 수출 과정에는 영향을 주지 않습니다.
