Target Information
TRPA1 is a TRP-related channel that responds to cold temperatures and pungent compounds, playing a role in nociceptor and hair cell transduction. It is a transformation-associated gene product in lung epithelia, primarily distributed in sensory neurons. Blocking TRPA1 may serve as a therapeutic target for treating cold hyperalgesia caused by inflammation and nerve damage. TRPA1 is also expressed outside of the CNS and is dysregulated during oncogenic transformation. Its structure is related to ankyrin and transmembrane proteins. While its exact function remains unclear, studies suggest roles in signal transduction and growth control.
