MA1-12693 detects Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) in human samples.
It has been successfully used in FACS, immunofluorescence, immunoprecipitation, Western blot, and immunohistochemistry (paraffin) procedures.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires digestion with protease XXV at 1 mg/mL in PBS for 5 minutes at 37°C.
Positive controls include A431 cells, placenta, or squamous cell carcinoma.
Suitable for Western blotting of extracellular domain of EGFR.
The immunogen used is HC2 20 d2 cells.

Target Information

EGFR (Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor) is a receptor tyrosine kinase that mediates signals from various growth factors.
Overexpression of EGFR has been associated with multiple cancer types and is a therapeutic target for both biological and small molecule drugs.
The EGFR gene is located on chromosome 7 in humans and encodes a transmembrane receptor belonging to the HER/ERbB family (ERbB2, ERbB3, ERbB4).
Binding of ligands such as EGF and TGF-α induces receptor dimerization and autophosphorylation of tyrosine residues in the cytoplasmic domain.
EGFR overexpression is observed in tumors of the head and neck, brain, bladder, stomach, breast, lung, endometrium, cervix, vulva, ovary, esophagus, and squamous cell carcinoma.
