ABCC3 단백질은 ATP-binding cassette (ABC) 수퍼패밀리에 속하며 다양한 분자를 세포 내외로 운반합니다. ABC 단백질은 ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White의 7개 하위군으로 나뉩니다. ABCC3는 MRP 하위군에 속하며 다약제 내성과 관련되어 있습니다. 구체적인 기능은 완전히 규명되지 않았으나, 담즙 및 장 내 유기 음이온 배출에 관여할 가능성이 있습니다. 대체 스플라이싱 변이체가 보고되었으나 모두 완전히 특성화되지는 않았습니다.
