Target Information
This gene encodes a protein similar to RAS effector proteins. Loss or altered expression of this gene is associated with various cancers, suggesting a tumor suppressor function. Inactivation correlates with hypermethylation of its CpG-island promoter. The encoded protein interacts with DNA repair protein XPA and inhibits cyclin D1 accumulation, inducing cell cycle arrest. Seven alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
