Target Information
MRE11 (double-strand break repair protein MRE11) is a component of the MRN complex, which plays a central role in double-strand break repair, DNA recombination, maintenance of telomere integrity, and meiosis.
The MRN complex possesses single-stranded endonuclease and double-strand-specific 3′–5′ exonuclease activities provided by MRE11. RAD50 binds DNA ends and maintains proximity. Mutations in the MRE11 gene may lead to ataxia-telangiectasia-like disorder 1.
