Target Information
Heterotrimeric guanine nucleotide-binding proteins encoded by this gene are associated with essential hypertension and obesity. The polymorphism is also linked to the splice variant GNB3-s, which exhibits increased activity. GNB3-s represents an alternative splicing event caused by a nucleotide change outside of canonical splice sites. Additional splice variants may exist but have not been fully described.
