C17orf85 단백질은 NCBP1/CBP80과 결합하여 대체 cap-binding complex(CBC)를 형성하며, mRNA 수출에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
NCBP3는 m7GpppG-capped RNA를 NCBP1/CBP80에 연결하는 어댑터 단백질로 작용합니다.
전통적인 CBC(NCBP2 포함)는 snRNA와 mRNA 모두에 결합하지만, 대체 CBC(NCBP3 포함)는 mRNA에만 결합하여 mRNA 수출에만 관여합니다.
이 복합체는 바이러스 감염 등 세포 스트레스 상황에서 특히 중요하며, NCBP3의 활성은 바이러스 증식을 억제하는 데 필수적입니다.
