Target Information

The PKC family of serine/threonine kinases, including PRKCD (PKC delta), is activated intracellularly by signal transduction pathways. In humans, at least 12 different PKC isoforms have been identified, each differing in structure, localization, and substrate specificity.
PKC family members phosphorylate diverse protein targets and participate in various cellular signaling pathways. They also act as receptors for phorbol esters, which are tumor promoters.
PKC-delta is involved in B cell signaling, and in regulation of growth, apoptosis, and differentiation in multiple cell types.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been observed.
