Target Information
This gene encodes a GTP-binding protein localized to mitochondria, potentially involved in mitochondrial tRNA modification. Polymorphisms in this locus may influence the severity of aminoglycoside-induced deafness associated with 12S rRNA mutations. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
