Recombinant Human TNF-alpha is a soluble 157 amino acid protein (17.4 kDa) corresponding to the C-terminal extracellular domain of the full-length transmembrane protein.

Target Information
TNF-alpha is a multifunctional proinflammatory cytokine belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily. It is mainly secreted by macrophages and binds to receptors TNFRSF1A/TNFR1 and TNFRSF1B/TNFBR.
TNF-alpha regulates immune cells, cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, lipid metabolism, and coagulation. It exists as multimers (dimers, trimers, or pentamers) but shows a single 17 kDa band under non-reducing SDS-PAGE conditions.
Knockout studies in mice suggest its neuroprotective function and tumor necrosis activity. TNF-alpha also participates in immune responses against bacterial, viral, parasitic, and fungal infections. It is synergistic with interferon-gamma in cytotoxicity and is implicated in autoimmune diseases, insulin resistance, and cancer.
