Product Specific Information

The RM4-5 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD4, a 55 kDa surface receptor found on most thymocytes, subsets of mature T cells, and dendritic cells. CD4 binds to MHC class II molecules on antigen-presenting cells and is crucial for T cell development and function. In T cells, CD4 associates with the protein tyrosine kinase p56lck. Binding of RM4-5 is blocked by GK1.5.

Target Information

CD4 is a co-receptor for MHC class II recognition and for HIV binding. It is primarily expressed on T helper cells, and also on monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4 expression is found in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and some non-lymphoid tissues. It plays a key role in T-cell activation via association with Lck kinase and may mediate neuronal damage in immune-related CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts exist (RefSeq, July 2017).
