Target Information
Genes encoding LIM domain-binding factors were initially isolated in a screen for proteins that interact with the LIM domains of nuclear proteins. The LDB2 gene encodes a protein capable of binding various transcription factors, functioning at enhancers to form or block higher-order activation complexes. LIM domain-binding factors are involved in coordinating transcriptional activity across multiple sites and may play roles in complex human phenotypes.
