Target Information
Transcriptional control is partly regulated by interactions between DNA-bound transcription factors such as Egr-1/NGFI-A and coregulatory proteins like NAB (NGFI-A-binding proteins). The conserved NAB proteins, NAB1 and NAB2, act as corepressors of EGF-1/NGFI-A. Both contain:
- NCD1 domain (NAB conserved domain 1): required for NGFI-A binding
- NCD2 domain: responsible for repressor function
NAB2 is primarily localized in the nucleus and may regulate NGFI-A activity, influencing cell division, differentiation, and apoptosis.
It has a predicted molecular mass of 56 kDa and is located on chromosome 12q13.3–14.1, a region associated with several solid tumors, lipomas, and liposarcomas.
