Target Information
HIF-2 alpha (Epas1) is a transcription factor involved in the induction of genes regulated by oxygen. It contains a basic-helix-loop-helix domain and a dimerization domain, functioning in signal transduction pathways responsive to oxygen levels. HIF-2 alpha also regulates vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression and is implicated in blood vessel and lung tubular system development. Mutations in this gene are associated with erythrocytosis familial type 4.
