MKK6 (MEK6, MAP2K6)는 이중 특이성 단백질 키나아제 계열에 속하며, mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase kinase로 작용합니다.
MAP kinase는 여러 생화학적 신호의 통합 지점으로 작용하며, 염증성 사이토카인 또는 환경적 스트레스에 반응하여 p38 MAP kinase를 인산화 및 활성화합니다.
이 단백질은 p38 MAP kinase 매개 신호전달 경로의 필수 구성요소로, 스트레스 유도 세포주기 정지, 전사 활성화, 세포자멸사 등 다양한 세포 과정에 관여합니다.
조직 특이성: Isoform 2는 골격근에만 발현되며, Isoform 1은 골격근, 심장, 간, 췌장에서 발현됩니다.
