| Background | The EYS gene encodes a protein containing multiple epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like and LamG domains. It is expressed in the photoreceptor layer of the retina, and mutations are associated with autosomal recessive retinitis pigmentosa. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified (RefSeq, Dec 2008). |
