Background
The protein encoded by the FHL5 gene is coordinately expressed with the activator of cAMP-responsive element modulator (CREM). It associates with CREM and confers strong transcriptional activation ability. CREM is essential for the differentiation of spermatids into mature spermatozoa. Multiple polyadenylation sites and transcript variants exist, and polymorphisms in this gene may be associated with migraine susceptibility. (RefSeq, Apr 2016)
