NDST3 유전자는 heparan sulfate/heparin GlcNAc N-deacetylase/N-sulfotransferase 계열의 구성원을 암호화합니다. 해당 효소는 골지체 내에 존재하는 타입 II 막단백질로, heparan sulfate 및 heparin의 N-acetylglucosamine 잔기에서 N-탈아세틸화 및 N-황산화를 촉매합니다. 이러한 반응은 heparan sulfate와 heparin의 기능적 올리고당 서열 생합성에 필요한 초기 화학적 변형 단계입니다.
