Target Information
Caldesmon is a developmentally regulated protein involved in smooth and non-muscle contraction. Two closely related human caldesmon variants differ in electrophoretic mobility and cellular distribution.
- h-Caldesmon (120–150 kDa): Predominantly expressed in smooth muscle.
- l-Caldesmon (70–80 kDa): Found in non-muscle tissue and cells.
Neither variant is detected in skeletal muscle.
