Target Information
SFPQ, also known as PSF, encodes a nuclear factor involved in splicing and gene expression regulation. It likely forms a heteromer with NONO and participates in DNA pairing and DNA break repair. Recent studies identified SFPQ as a downstream target of tau; nuclear depletion and cytoplasmic accumulation have been observed in neurons and astrocytes of Alzheimer’s disease brains. Reduced SFPQ levels may progress with tau pathology, suggesting a key role in neurodegenerative diseases including AD. The SFPQ protein may appear as 47 kDa, 52 kDa, or 100 kDa molecules in various cell types.
