Target Information
VMP1 is a stress-induced transmembrane protein that promotes formation of intracellular vacuoles and cell death when overexpressed. It is involved in cytoplasmic vacuolization during the early stages of acute pancreatitis. VMP1 co-localizes with LC3, a marker of autophagosomes, and interacts with beclin-1 through the VMP1-Atg domain, which is essential for autophagosome formation.
