Target Information
Apolipoproteins are stabilizers of lipoprotein particles, with at least nine known polymorphic forms. Quantitative measurements of HDL, LDL, and VLDL particles in human serum are used to estimate coronary heart disease risk. Immunological measurements of specific apolipoproteins, particularly A-I and B, may serve as more accurate indicators than lipoprotein particle measurements. Apolipoproteins are derived from human plasma via density gradient ultracentrifugation and HPLC.
