Target Information
CD26 (dipeptidyl peptidase IV, DPP IV), also known as adenosine deaminase (ADA) binding protein, is a homodimeric atypical serine protease belonging to the prolyl oligopeptidase family.
It is expressed on lymphocytes and upregulated during T-cell activation, also found on activated B cells, NK cells, and epithelial tissues.
CD26 is involved in T-cell activation, cell adhesion to extracellular matrix components such as fibronectin and collagen, and plays a role in HIV infection.
Alterations in CD26 peptidase activity are associated with malignant transformation, with activity increasing alongside tumor grade and severity.
Expression changes have been reported in monocytes and CD4+ T cells during rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
