Target Information

Voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels are complex ion channels with diverse physiological roles, including regulation of neurotransmitter release, heart rate, insulin secretion, neuronal excitability, epithelial electrolyte transport, smooth muscle contraction, and cell volume.
KCNH1 encodes a member of the voltage-gated potassium channel subfamily H, functioning as a pore-forming (alpha) subunit of a non-inactivating delayed rectifier potassium channel.
KCNH1 is activated during myoblast differentiation and is highly expressed in brain and myoblasts. Overexpression may promote cancer cell proliferation.
Alternative splicing results in two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.
