This kit amplifies DNA with our Takara Taq HS, a hot-start PCR enzyme, with dUTP in place of dTTP as the substrate in the dNTP mix. After PCR has been performed with this kit, reaction mixtures are treated with uracil-N-glycosylase (UNG), an enzyme that cleaves uracil-containing DNA. UNG degrades uracil-containing contaminants from a previous PCR. Non-uracil-containing templates are unaffected, and the amplification of carryover products is suppressed in the next round of PCR.
