The Human IL-13 Simplex ProcartaPlex Kit measures IL-13 protein and is designed to be combinable with other Simplex kits, enabling the creation of customized multiplex panels utilizing Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation. When combining multiple Simplex kits, only one buffer kit (sold separately) is needed per assay plate regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on sandwich ELISA principles, using two highly specific antibodies that bind to different epitopes of one protein to quantify multiple protein targets simultaneously using a Luminex instrument.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology to detect and quantify up to 80 protein targets in a single sample (25–50 μL) from plasma, serum, cell culture supernatants, and other fluids.

The Luminex beads are internally dyed with precise proportions of red and infrared fluorophores, creating spectrally unique signatures identified by Luminex detection systems (Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX). Similar to a sandwich ELISA, matched antibody pairs identify the target protein. Each bead is labeled with antibodies specific for one protein; bound proteins are detected with biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE).

Unlike traditional ELISA, ProcartaPlex assays use capture antibodies conjugated to beads, allowing reagents to remain free-floating. Detection instruments use dual lasers to differentiate bead signatures and quantify RPE fluorescence proportional to protein concentration. This enables profiling of more targets using less sample in comparable assay time.

ProcartaPlex multiplex panels are available in multiple formats across six species: human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, and canine.
