Target Information
Syncollin is a 134-amino-acid small peripheral membrane protein abundantly expressed in pancreatic acinar cells. It is tightly associated with the lumenal side of the zymogen granule membrane and contains intrachain disulfide bonds. Syncollin associates with lipid rafts in a cholesterol-dependent manner and plays roles in exocytosis, as well as in the maturation and/or concentration of zymogens in zymogen granules. Reports suggest that syncollin may also have pore-forming activity on membranes and regulate exocytosis in some exocrine tissues.
