Antibody detects endogenous levels of total SOX9.
Target Information
SOX9 plays an essential role in sex determination and differentiation of Sertoli cells. It is involved in chondrogenesis and regulates genes responsible for cartilage formation as a transcription factor. Translocation of SOX9 can lead to campomelic dysplasia. It contributes to testis formation from fetal gonads and is involved in neuron-glia differentiation in the developing spinal cord. SOX9 supports prostate epithelium development and maintenance, and its dysregulation is associated with prostate cancer progression. It also influences neural crest precursor formation and melanin production regulation. Expression has been observed in adult testis, adult heart, and fetal brain.
