THRAP5는 Mediator complex의 구성 요소로, RNA polymerase II 의존적 유전자들의 조절된 전사에 관여하는 공활성화 단백질입니다. Mediator는 유전자 특이적 조절 단백질로부터 정보를 전달하는 브릿지 역할을 하며, RNA polymerase II와 일반 전사 인자들과 함께 기능적 preinitiation complex를 형성하는 스캐폴드로 작용합니다.
