Target Information
CD80 (B7-1) and CD86 (B7-2) are ligands of T cell costimulatory molecule CD28 and inhibitory receptor CTLA-4 (CD152). Both are expressed on professional antigen-presenting cells and are essential for T cell activation. CD80 is rapidly induced on activated B cells and various lymphoma cell lines. It provides regulatory signals for T lymphocytes through interaction with CD28 and CTLA4.
Diseases associated with CD80 dysfunction include gallbladder squamous cell carcinoma and myocarditis.
